Josep Samitier Martí

Josep Samitier Martí is head of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, a professor in the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Barcelona, a member of the Institute of Catalan Studies, chair of the Catalan Association of Research Centres, coordinator of the NANOMED Spain platform and a founding member of EIT HEALTH. He’s currently the state coordinator of the Complementary Plan for Biotechnology Applied to Health, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Innovation together with seven autonomous communities, which is investigating new tools for precision medicine. He received the City of Barcelona Award in the Technological Innovation category in 2003 and the Narcís Monturiol Medal in 2020.
