Audio-visual productions are being globalised and concentrated. This makes dialogue between local and global audio-visual spaces all the more necessary and applies to both public authorities and the sector’s players. Set in an environment where information publishing and management are extremely fragile and where the struggle between large platforms determines the rules of the market, this debate needs to cover several aspects of the same phenomenon: international-scale content production, local imagery creation, championing talent as raw material and distribution as an essential vector for the sector's sustainability.

Barcelona and Catalonia have to deal with this debate for the short term, insofar as their presence in the world of communication is at stake and, by extension, in the framework of creative industries that are highly permeable to digitalisation processes. This session will tackle its keys, based on the premise that a country without its own production has no narrative and that it is not about competing with the big international super-productions, but about opting for creativity and talent applied to the production of own audio-visual contents.
