CLIMATE MOVEMENT
Environmental awareness, behaviour and intentions for change in sustainable mobility in Barcelona
The objective is to analyse the influence of factors such as environmental concern and awareness, as well as the perception of measures like a future urban toll or the tightening of the ZBE Rondes de Barcelona, on mobility behaviours, in order to provide recommendations for the design of sustainable, equitable, and safe mobility policies.
Center: Institut Metròpolis
The project investigates how environmental awareness and concern about climate change influence mobility habits and the acceptance of restrictive policies on motor vehicles. Despite growing climate awareness, there is often a gap between pro-environmental attitudes and individual behaviours. Moreover, opposition to measures such as low-emission zones or urban tolls complicates the transition to sustainable mobility. The research will combine quantitative surveys of residents in the ZBE Rondes de Barcelona area with focus groups to explore perceptions and acceptance of controversial measures such as the urban toll. The results will provide essential insights for designing more effective, sustainable, equitable, and healthy transport policies, encouraging citizen engagement in climate change mitigation.
