Memories, traces and destinies of republican women journalists in Barcelona
The objective is to provide an overview of women journalists in Barcelona during the Second Republic, their fate after 1939 (whether exile or internal exile), and the traces they have left today.
Center: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
This project recovers the democratic memory of women journalists in Barcelona during the Second Republic and their fate after 1939, whether in exile or internal exile. It proposes a multidisciplinary investigation that includes collecting data on their publications, personal and official documentation, as well as a reflection on the social and cultural impact of their work before and after 1939. The project also examines the current recognition of these figures in feminist and LGTBIQ+ struggles and within the urban space of Barcelona through the study of intangible heritage. Ultimately, the project aims to maximize the visibility and dissemination of its research findings, both for their inherent value and their relevance to contemporary society and democratic rights. To this end, it will employ research-creation methodologies and community-based initiatives that engage the population of Barcelona.
