Barcelona City Council, in co-edition with Triangle Books, publishes the Monastery of Pedralbes guidebook, which is part of the “Patrimonium” collection. The authors of the guide are Anna Castellano-Tresserra, PhD in Medieval History and director of the Monastery of Pedralbes Museum, and Carme Aixalà Fàbregas, art historian. Both will participate in the presentation of the publication, which will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at 6.30 pm in the hall of the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes. Josep Liz, editor, and Jaume Muñoz Jofre, director of Memory, History and Heritage at Barcelona City Council, will also take part.

The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes is one of the best examples of Catalan Gothic. It was founded in 1327 by a queen, Elisenda de Montcada, the last wife of King James II the Just, for a community of women who followed the Poor Clare Order, spiritual sisters of the Franciscans. The monastery has remained, from its foundation to the present, practically unchanged, neither its architectural configuration nor the movable property that the community has treasured over the centuries.
