A giant King’s Tortell in the DHub lobby

The installation Al voltant, a work by the Barcelona studio Gracias Grecia, offers a contemporary reinterpretation of tradition.

Some chase the King with madness, others dodge the bean (and, if necessary, swallow it so they won’t have to pay for the party), and still others separate the melon or any other candied fruit they don’t like. Surely everyone has lived a Three Kings’ Day like this, around a shared King’s Tortell. At the DHub you have one of colossal dimensions until February 8. Would you like a piece?

As soon as you enter the DHub, you will see Al voltant, an installation consisting of an inflatable structure that perfectly reproduces a large King’s Cake. A lighting play completes the effect, so that, as you see in the image, when you find yourself in front of this large structure you might even feel like taking a bite out of it. Don’t do it, but do accept the proposal they will make to “cut” a fragment and join a shared ceremony.

With a diameter of six meters, this King’s Cake seems to be placed on a large table, the space in which Christmas excitement and good wishes are shared. Take part in the interactive ritual and you will see.

Everything has been imagined by Gracias Grecia, a Barcelona creative team that works in design and cultural productions, merging design, technology, and storytelling in search of the right combination between tradition and innovation, as they demonstrate at the DHub.

If you want to relive a tradition of these days in a contemporary way, come share the giant King’s Tortell that has been installed in the DHub lobby, but first consult the information about it on the website.
