‘Airplane!’ and ‘Top Secret’ at Phenomena
Two renowned spoof films on one of the best screens in Barcelona.
Choosing the ‘funniest film ever’ is nearly impossible for film-lovers. However, these two films will surely be at the top of most lists: Airplane! and Top Secret. They are both renowned spoofs that brought absurdist humour front and centre in Hollywood when they premièred: in 1980 and 1984, respectively. Now, the Phenomena cinema is bringing us these two films in a double session: a night to laugh until your sides hurt. Creators Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker take parody to the limit with humour that is well written and not PC. In Airplane!, a traumatised former pilot has to take control of a plane amidst chaos, leading to some of the most iconically funny scenes in the history of film. In Top Secret, a rock star gets involved in a Resistance plot to bring down a tyrannical government.
The double feature will be screened on 29 August from 8:30 pm at the Phenomena Experience cinema. The films last a joint total of 178 minutes, nearly three hours, and will be shown in original version with Spanish subtitles. Don’t miss this chance to see two true classics on one of the best screens in Barcelona.
Tickets cost €9. You can get them on the Phenomena website.
