Barcelona’s Children Paradise
The Festival de la Infància (Children's Festival) returns to the Fira de Montjuïc, this year with a new space dedicated to the youngest visitors.
Every year, Fira de Barcelona site becomes a wonderful centre of activities, games and knowledge that almost everyone has visited at some point in their childhood. This year, the Children's Festival continues to seduce young Barcelona residents in a festive event that, in this edition, has a novelty: it opens a space specifically dedicated to early childhood. From 27th to 31st December, come and finish the year in the funniest way possible.
Don't think that the Festival is anything new in the celebrations of these days. On the contrary, it has been held for many years. The first edition took place in 1963, at the initiative of the Campanya Benèfica de Ràdio Nacional d'Espanya in Barcelona, led by an actor (Emili Fàbregas or "Mr. Dalmau") and an announcer, Joan Viñas, to bring together entertainment and education in a single proposal.
The result is an unmissable event in the family calendar which, like the first one, is held at the Fira site and which, in this edition, has as a great novelty the Espai Primera Infància, a "mini-space" which will be a reference centre for children up to four years, with lots of adapted games, the playroom El jardí dels petits and a stage for them, as well as areas for breastfeeding and car parking. Here they will enjoy the toy library, visit El cau dels sentits, get into a vintage car and experience all kinds of sound and auditory stimuli. Theatre, puppets and songs with groups and artists such as Galiot Titelles or the Roberto G. Alonso Company, among many others. Alonso, among many others, will offer shows designed for young audiences.
For older children, the whole Festival site offers a thousand and one surprises and activities, ranging from the classic car shows to a make-up workshop that will make them feel like an actor or actress in the dressing room about to go on stage. Among the proposals, a hilarious American track, a farm made with inflatable elements, technological experiences, spaces to learn how to move safely on the net or to drive through a city... Get ready to fly (or something similar) in a wind tunnel, to skate on the arena's rink and to find out about the work done in Barcelona's markets, the work done by the officers of the Guàrdia Urbana or the day-to-day work of the members of the Barcelona Fire Brigade.
Spectacles of all kinds (those that appeal to the youngest, but also all the rest) will fill the stage with theatrical proposals, songs and music that will keep the audience entertained for a long time. We guarantee that there won't be a boy or girl in the city who won't come home tired after a day at the Children's Festival.
If you don't want to miss an unmissable event for the youngest Barcelona residents, come to the Children's Festival, but first check the website for all the information about the event.
