The JONC to commemorate 25 years of career with a benefit concert

The proceedings from 'Vida' will go to the NGO Projecte Home Catalunya.

This year, the JONC youth orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary. They began their career in 1993 under the director Josep Pons, who handed over the reins to Manel Valdivieso in 2001. In order to celebrate this special occasion, the orchestra has decided to prepare a concert called 'Vida', the proceedings from which will go to the NGO Projecte Home Catalunya, which has been working for more than 20 years to promote the dignity and autonomy of people with addictions. The JONC, which is made up of the best young musical talents in Catalonia, has prepared a repertoire designed to celebrate their past, present and future and will feature pieces by Stravinsky, Bernstein, Toldrà, Britten and Berkeley.

The concert will take place in Sala Pau Casals at L'Auditori at 8 pm on 4 January. To commemorate the anniversary in a special way, the concert will feature the performance of the two orchestral formations (the JONC and the JONC Alevins), together with the participation of the Gerhard Quartet. In addition, Josep Pons, the official conductor of the JONC from1993 to 2001, will accompany the current conductor, Manel Valdivieso.

Tickets cost from €10 to €35 and are available for purchase on L'Auditori website.
