More classical music at the University of Barcelona

The 31st annual cycle of concerts at the UB is continuing with a concert on 15 March and five more scheduled until June.

The University of Barcelona's commitment to promoting the popular consumption of classical music is very firm, and for this concert cycle its most magnificent space, the main lecture hall, known as the Paranymph Hall, which is usually reserved for major conferences, master classes and important ceremonies in the world of academia, is being pressed into service as a concert hall. In this facet, it has hosted performances of lyrical songs, symphonies and chamber music and, for more than 30 years, has also been used as the main venue for a classical music cycle offering one concert per month. The next date on the programme of the Music at the University cycle, featuring the Orchestra of the University of Barcelona (OUB), is scheduled to take place on 15 March.

The programme for this upcoming concert has yet to be announced, but, given the large dimensions of the orchestra, will almost certainly feature symphonic pieces. Like all the concerts in the cycle, it is completely free, and all you have to do to attend is reserve an invitation as of 12 March on the UB website. The following dates will be on 12 April, with the Choir of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UB, 26 April with an opera programme performed by students of the ESMUC, 10 May with the University of Barcelona Big Band, and 24 May with the Orchestra and Choir of the UB. The Orchestra of the University of Barcelona will close the cycle on 14 June.
