Dance and Movement in Contemporary Europe

Just one day, two performances—and a unique opportunity to connect with a project involving multiple countries from across the European Union. Aerowaves is dedicated to identifying, promoting, and supporting the best emerging artists and most exciting proposals in the world of contemporary dance and movement. On Saturday, June 7, Mercat de les Flors hosts works by Albanian choreographer Ermira Goro and Montpellier Danse associate artist Armin Hokmi.

Aerowaves is a European hub focused on discovering new voices in dance and movement. Each year, it selects standout new works by emerging artists and includes them in a cross-border touring network spanning 34 countries.

Among the latest selected artists is Ermira Goro, who brings her piece Sirens to Mercat de les Flors at 6:00 PM. The performance features two bodies that defy gender labels, taking audiences on a sensual and mysterious journey through desire and its social expression. Goro’s interdisciplinary work blends movement, dance, and performance. Born in Albania, she trained and developed her career primarily in the Greek contemporary scene. The piece is performed by Sotiria Koutsopetrou and Adonis Vais.

Later that evening, at 7:30 PM, the venue will host Armin Hokmi, selected by Aerowaves and currently an associate artist at Montpellier Danse for the 2024–2026 period. His work, Shiraz, is a choreography for seven dancers featuring an interwoven tapestry of movements and energies that meet and evolve onstage. The piece evokes a powerful sense of freedom and exploration, brought to life by dancers Daniel Sarr, Luisa Fernanda Alfonso, Xenia Koghilaki, Aleksandra Petrushevska, Efthimios Moschopoulos, Johanna Ryynänen, Emmi Venna, and Charlott Madeleine Utzig.
