El Born CCM

El Born CCM teaches us about dance and music from the 1700s

A night-time visit to the archaeological site plus a performance by Xuriach.

Dance and music leave a deep mark on society. These disciplines are part of the collective imagination and culture of any given time, which makes people behave one way or another. Nevertheless, their circumstantial nature makes them difficult to pass down to the following generations. Many scholars have done research on music and dance of the past to help give us a better understanding of where we come from. Xuriach is a music and dance company that focuses on old and traditional styles, specialising in the study, research and dissemination of Renaissance and Baroque music and dance, with special interest in Catalan and Iberian repertoires. Throughout July and August, they will be participating in very special night-time activities at the El Born Cultural and Memorial Centre, called Dansa i música a la Barcelona del 1700” (Dance and music in Barcelona in the 1700s). Visitors will be able to wander the streets and homes of the 18th-century city to the songs and dances its inhabitants enjoyed at the time. Xuriach will perform the sounds of the time, which filled taverns and homes throughout the urban area, while an educator explains the details of daily life.

“Dansa i música a la Barcelona del 1700” visits will be held every Wednesday from 3 July to 28 August, from 9 pm to 10:30 pm at El Born Cultural and Memorial Centre. This is a great opportunity to discover Xuriach, a company widely known for the passion and excitement they convey, reliving the repertoire and making it available to all.

The activity costs €6. You can book your spot on the El Born Cultural and Memorial Centre website.
