Endinseu-vos en la Barcelona literària que va inspirar el poeta amb la visita guiada ‘Verdaguer i Barcelona’

A day with Verdaguer at Vil·la Joana

Immerse yourself in the literary Barcelona that inspired the poet with the guided visit 'Verdaguer i Barcelona'.

On December 7, Vil·la Joana opens its doors for the guided visit Verdaguer i Barcelona, a tour that reveals the life of the poet and the city that saw him grow and gain recognition, while also recalling his final days in this emblematic house in Collserola.

Located between Vallvidrera and Les Planes, Vil·la Joana is much more than an old 18th-century farmhouse converted into a summer residence in the 19th century. Between 1921 and 1973 it hosted the pioneering Vil·la Joana Schools, dedicated to special education, and it is now the Casa Verdaguer, a memorial and literary space that highlights the figure of the poet and the importance of the written word.

The visit proposes a chronological tour of the museum’s first floor, where Verdaguer’s trajectory is reviewed—from his childhood in Folgueroles, the contact with nature that shaped his work, his recognition as Poet of Catalonia, to the spiritual crisis resulting from his trip to the Holy Land. The itinerary culminates with the poet’s final moments at Vil·la Joana, where he died on June 10, 1902. As participants, you will be able to discover and explore spaces such as the oratory, his room, the gallery, and his desk, elements that preserve Verdaguer’s emotional memory.

In addition, the privileged location of Vil·la Joana, next to the Collserola Park Information Centre, allows visitors to discover the natural surroundings of the area, such as the Font de la Budellera or the Vallvidrera Reservoir, adding a touch of nature to the literary route. Verdaguer i Barcelona is a unique opportunity to delve into the life and work of one of the great Catalan poets and, at the same time, explore the literary Barcelona that inspired him. You will find more information on the website of the Museum of the History of Barcelona.
