Nicolás Lamas

'Every object is a temporal space' at the Miró Foundation

The exhibition is part of the One Foot Out. Expeditions and Diasporas programme

From 11 November 2016 to 8 January 2017, Barcelona’s Miró Foundation in Parc de Montjuïc is hosting the temporary exhibition by Nicolás Lamas titled Every Object is a Temporal Space. This collection of works curated by Jordi Antas brings together a large number of works by an artist who has devoted himself to the selective manipulation of images, texts, sounds and objects associated with the construction and transmission of knowledge.

Using a diverse mixture of elements, Nicolás Lamas seeks to establish a critical debate on the communicative stimulus that surround us and on how our cultural baggage acts as a decodifying agent. Here, Lamas establishes a critical debate on the collective mechanisms that give shape to our shared perceptions, generating a shared imaginary that operates as a model.

This exhibition, which was created especially for the Foundation’s Espai 13, is conceived of as a well-thought-out network of meanings; evocative relations that reveal a mechanism in equilibrium between inconsistency and concreteness. In the words of its curator Jordi Antas, the exhibition “sheds light on what is not seen, which seems to mark a shift in our way of understanding the space that we live in together and that makes up our world”.
