‘Barcelona flashback’

Flashback to Barcelona’s history through 100 items

The “Barcelona Flashback” exhibition at MUHBA takes an innovative look back at the city’s history through eyewitnesses and objects.

Museu d’Història de Barcelona is refurbishing Casa Padellàs on Plaça del Rei to turn it into Casa de la Història de Barcelona, a hub for the Museum’s network of heritage sites around the city. Part of this process is the exhibition “Barcelona flashback. Kit d’història en 100 objectes”, which is opening this October. It is an experimental synthesis, presenting and putting the history of Barcelona in context in an innovative way. It does so through an interrogative historical reading of objects that represent the city, its architecture and landscapes, including new citizen programmes. More than just an exhibition, “Barcelona flashback” is an educational proposal and international research project that looks at the basic kit of urban awareness and knowledge a modern museum should provide, taking into account democracy and the right to the city. It is a great review of our history from the Romans through the 21st century, with the best pieces from the collection.

The inauguration of “Barcelona flashback. Kit d’història en 100 objectes” will be held on 9 October at 7 pm, and the exhibition will open its doors the following day. The timetable for the exhibition will be Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 7 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 8 pm, at MUHBA Casa Padellàs. For now, the exhibition will be ongoing, as no end date has been set.

This exhibition is free and open to all. More information is available on the MUHBA website.
