Boys and girls in the workshop

Exploring color and discovering the senses at the Picasso Museum

A family workshop helps the development of boys and girls and the discovery of the senses through the artist’s work.

What smell does the color blue suggest to you? It may seem like a strange question, but think about it, especially if you want to take part in the family workshop Picasso, through the senses offered at Museu Picasso of Barcelona. Next session: Saturday, December 6, but there are more until mid-2026.

The activity is aimed at families with children aged 4 to 6, an ideal age for learning to use the senses to discover everything around them. And what if we do it through art works and creations by a master of painting?

Here they will be taught to use their imagination and to ask themselves questions like this one. Are the senses connected to each other? Are color and touch the only ways to define a shape or a landscape?

People experienced in working with children will make them think about these questions and will show them examples that, in passing, will help them discover the fine arts in general and Picasso in particular, while having a great time. All of this starts from a surprise element that will transport the little ones into the world of the senses in an experience of discovery.

It is not the only activity for families organized by the museum, which soon (December 20 and other dates) is also offering a workshop (Carefree Portraits, led by Bea Ortiz) that gets adults and children drawing together… portraying each other!

If you want to spend a good time with your family and delve into the world of art, come to the workshop Picasso, through the senses, but first check the activity information on the Picasso Museum website.
