Exploring the origins of cinema with optical devices

The Plaça de la Filmoteca de Catalunya is hosting a family activity to experiment and interact with cinematographic equipment.

What was cinema like in its beginnings? You can discover it through play with the family activity Fes moure el cinema!, a festive day with Zinematik on January 3. The Plaça de Salvador Seguí will be filled with giant optical toys as part of an activity organised as a cloakroom for the Cinema paper exhibition: Érik Bullot, from the Filmoteca de Catalunya. A FilmoXica proposal for all audiences that you can't miss.

Whether you are fond of cinematic art or not, you will surely be curious to know how films were made in the beginning; how images were captured and reproduced in movement. You can learn all that while playing with interactive pre-film artefacts, devices that have been created by Zinematik.

The activity is organised within the framework of the exhibition Cinema paper. Érik Bullot, an exhibition dedicated to the French filmmaker and theorist, curated by Marina Vinyes, which can be seen until 28th of January. Bullot updates the idea of a living or dematerialised cinema through a poetic account and a documented investigation of some of the obsessions and dreams that cinema has left in the past.

In addition to this activity in which you can interact freely with the cinematographic devices located in Salvador Seguí Square, the Filmoteca de Catalunya offers two family visits to the exhibition by Érik Bullot. These will be held in two sessions, at 12 noon and 5 p.m. Although they are free, you must register in advance at filmoteca.taquilla@gencat.cat.

If you want to discover through interactive games how films were made in the early days of cinema, take advantage of the Fes moure el cinema! proposal. You have the opportunity to spend a day with the family thanks to Zinematik's machines and artefacts. The activity will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is free of charge, without prior registration. For more information, please visit the Filmoteca de Catalunya website.
