CCCB’s Gandules’19, as part of the ‘Quantica’ exhibition
A free outdoor film series with 9 films inspired by concepts from the quantum revolution.
For some years, one must every summer has been the Gandules film series at the Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture (abbreviated CCCB), which is always held in relation to one of the exhibitions on display. This year, the films have to do with the show Quantica, so we can expect parallel universes, time travel and an abolition of the rational order, among other phenomena on the frontier between science and science fiction. All 9 films were somehow inspired by concepts stemming from the quantum revolution, which makes them very special. The gradual infiltration of concepts from the third great cosmological revolution into the sphere of culture has not only inspired the creation of new imaginaries and worlds in the fantasy fiction genre but also questioned the traditional conception of the story.
The screenings will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 pm from 6 to 21 August on the Pati de les Dones of the Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Culture. In order, the series will screen High Life by Claire Denis; Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me by David Lynch; Ayudar al ojo humano by Velasco Broca, Julián Génisson and Lorena Iglesias; Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives by Apichatpong Weerasethakul; Shinboru by Hitoshi Matsumoto; Mind Game by Masaaki Yuasa and Koji Morimoto; Mahi va gorbeh by Shahram Mokri; Donnie Darko by Richard Kelly; and a double feature with Je t’aime, Je t’aime by Alain Resnais and La Jetée by Chris Marker.
All sessions are free of charge and open to the public, and you probably want to get there on time to find a comfortable place to sit. You can find complete information on the CCCB website.
