Una visita guiada per descobrir la Barcelona del 1700

A guided tour to discover Barcelona in the 1700s

Museu d'Història de Barcelona organises guided tours to discover the past of the Ribera district and delve into daily life before and after the War of Succession.

Museu d'Història de Barcelona offers an immersive experience through a guided tour of the archaeological site and the permanent exhibition at the Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria. This activity invites you to take a journey back in time to discover the Barcelona of the 1700s, a vibrant, mercantile city that underwent profound transformations after the War of Succession.

El Born. Barcelona in 1700. Història i vida is a journey through the remains of the Ribera neighbourhood that provides an insight into the commercial activity and daily life of a neighbourhood full of dynamism, but also confronts us with the harshness of its destruction. More than a thousand houses were demolished by military order, and many families were forced to clear their homes with their own hands.

The guided visit also includes a tour of the permanent exhibition, where you can see numerous objects found at the site, material testimonies that allow you to evoke the life of those people: their work, their beliefs and their customs.

This is a unique opportunity to travel back in time and learn about the events that marked a turning point in the history of Barcelona. Through the material remains and the stories of the people who lived in the Ribera district, the Barcelona History Museum will allow you to reflect on the resilience of a city that, despite its adversities, continued to evolve and keep alive its commercial and cultural essence.
