Sant Jordi's Day

Literary superblock to celebrate Sant Jordi

It will extend along the Diagonal-Gran Via/Pau Claris-Balmes perimeter, with the entire Passeig de Gràcia reserved for book and flower professionals.

The Barcelona City Council, the Cambra del Llibre and the Florists' Guild are finalising the details of a Sant Jordi's Day that will return to its pre-pandemic normality. The big novelty will be the creation of a literary superblock that will extend along the Diagonal-Gran Via/Pau Claris-Balmes perimeter. Within this area, there will be two distinct spaces: the Passeig de Gràcia axis will be reserved for professional booksellers and florists, while the Rambla de Catalunya axis will be used by associations and organisations. The superblock will be for pedestrians only, while vehicles will be able to circulate along the perimeter's streets and along Aragó and València.

The professional booksellers and florists will also have other exclusive spaces at their disposal, distributed in different parts of the city: Plaça Valdivia, Passeig Lluís Companys, Plaça Vila de Gràcia, Plaça Orfila, Plaça de Sarrià, Espai Poblenou-Pallars-Llacuna-Pujades, Plaça Reial, Plaça Universitat and Passeig Sant Joan/Arc de Triomf.

On the eve of Sant Jordi's Day, 22 April, flower and booksellers as well as bakeries will be able to set up their stalls in front of the shop.

It has also been confirmed that the Barcelona City Council, under the umbrella of UNESCO City of Literature, will organise the traditional Sant Jordi lunch on 23 April. It will take place at the Palau de la Virreina and will be held in collaboration with the Cambra del Llibre and the different writers' guilds and associations.
