‘The Lord of the Rings’

‘The Lord of the Rings’ marathon, in extended version, at Phenomena

An experience for hard-core fans only: over 12 hours with Peter Jackson’s three films.

In 2001, 2002 and 2003, we saw one of the first cinematic phenomena of the masses: The Lord of the Rings trilogy. New Zealander Peter Jackson directed all three films based on the novels of the same name by J. R. R. Tolkien: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. They won a joint total of 17 Oscars and earned nearly $3 billion. To satisfy fans even more, after the films premièred, an extended edition of each one was released on DVD and shown on special occasions.  Now fans are in luck, because Phenomena Experience cinemas has scheduled a marathon of the extended versions of all three films on one Saturday. There will be more than twelve hours of film in the original version with Spanish subtitles, a great way to enjoy these films that changed the history of cinema.

The films, starring Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen and Viggo Mortensen, among others, will be shown on Saturday 18 May starting at noon and continuing throughout the day. The Phenomena Experience has scheduled a break after each film so the audience can take a breather and prepare for the next one.

Tickets for the whole marathon cost €20. You can get them on the Phenomena website.
