Mecal Air returns

Short films will enjoy open-air screenings every Friday from June to September in the Plaça del Baluard of the Poble Espanyol

Mecal Air, the series dedicated to open air screenings of short films, kicks off its sixth edition. As is customary, the sessions will take place on Friday evenings during the months of June, July, August and September in the Plaça del Baluard of the Poble Espanyol, Barcelona. The series will begin on the 6th of June at 8 pm with the screening of a selection of highlights from the last edition of Mecal Pro, the International Festival of Short Film and Animation.

Aside from the inauguration, June’s sessions will take place on the 20th and the 27th, and, as always, screenings will be divided according to subject matter. The session on the 20th will be dedicated to “first times”, while the session on the 27th will be dedicated to humour. During the month of July there will be sessions dedicated to horror, advertising, B-movie animation and sex, while the August sessions will pay homage to love, cats, cycling and one of literatures most iconic monsters, Frankenstein.

In addition, visitors are free to enjoy the Chill Out area, where music and drinks will be served during the breaks. Tickets for the Plaça del Baluard of the Poble Espanyol cost 3 euros if accompanied by a flyer which can be downloaded from the Mecal Facebook page or website, or 6.5 euros without a flyer. Sessions will continue into October in the Fàbrica Moritz.
