Bad Gyal: a successful trajectory

The singer performs her first concert at the Palau Sant Jordi, an indisputable proof that her career is on the right track.

With a unique style, a great voice and always committed to musical innovation, the Catalan singer Bad Gyal is a benchmark in dancehall and urban music.

For the first time, and in what represents a big step in her career, Gyal will perform at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona on Saturday 11 February. In Madrid, tickets are already sold out for the concert on 17 February.

Gyal, only 25, rose to fame after her cover of Rihanna's Work went viral in 2016. The performance by Alba Farelo i Solé (her real name), entitled Pai, adapted the lyrics in a combination of Catalan, Spanish and English.

Her work emerges in the context of the underground urban alternative scene and is known for its catchy dancehall fusions, originally a traditional genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the mid-1970s. It also draws inspiration from Panamanian reggaeton.

Her music is a hybrid in Spanish of these fused sounds, and everything she does is based on an appreciation of these musical styles. Bad Gyal is also passionate about fashion, and in her performances, as in her videos, she opts for a daring aesthetic, centred on the 90s and 2000s.

Her big artistic breakthrough, which made her popular, came in 2019 when she signed to the Interscope label. The first single released under this new scheme was Santa Maria (2019). Since then, she has not stopped working.

With such a promising career, Bad Gyal has already performed concerts in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Totally self-produced, the artist will present several new releases and will preview some tracks from her new album, confirming that she is in her woman moment.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased in this link.
