10 years of the Poblenou Urban District
The districte cultural i creatiu de Barcelona is organising a new edition of Poblenou Open Day and the Windows Art Circuit.
The 10th edition of the Poblenou Open Day will be held on 7 May. From 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., the community that makes up Poblenou Urban District invites all citizens to enjoy a cultural programme with more than 50 proposals, with free or discounted activities, as is the case of the Sala Beckett or the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
As always, Poblenou Open Day will be a showcase for the talent of the district's cultural and creative network: art galleries, creative centres, artists' studios, advertising agencies, audiovisual production companies, showrooms, gastronomic spaces, shops, cocktail bars, hotels and restaurants. They all will offer cultural activities including exhibitions and art sales, conferences, multimedia, demonstrations and workshops or live music, as well as gastronomic proposals such as tastings and samplings, cocktails and special menus. At this link, you will find a list of the most avant-garde shops in the area, and if you want to keep up to date with the latest proposals in the field of design and architecture, click here.
When it comes to performing arts, some of the proposals that stand out are the gastronomic space ROC35, where the theatrical report De una soledad muy parecida a la felicidad based on a text by Svétlana Alexiévitx with the actress Patricia Jacas will be performed (at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.); the Indissoluble exhibition factory, which has programmed the theatrical adaptation of the story El cocodril by Fiódor Dostoievski, by Enrique Radigales (with performances at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.); and the space El Solar, which will host the play Dejen salir antes de entrar, by the theatre laboratory Els Malnascuts (at 5 p.m.).
Within the framework of Poblenou Open Day, the Windows Art Circuit/WAC will also be held. It is a multidisciplinary circuit of interventions that shows the process of creating mural art and exhibitions in different media and spaces in Poblenou with the aim of publicising the work of 30 specially selected artists. Some of them will be at La NAVE of the new building of the Centre Universitari d’Arts i Disseny BAU, located on the street Ciutat de Granada. They are Ladislas, Tropidelia, Alejandro Macizo, Lisa Rubin, Angel Cho, Vikrant Mishra, Beatriz Mendez de Molina, Sara Ojanguren, Flavia Rainone, Alícia Vogel, No queda Tinte, Lucas Estévez and Sonia Toneu. At 5 p.m., Luzildab, Mike van der Noordt and Giles Pooley will present Canvas Digital, an augmented reality platform that allows artists to create digital art of all types and scales and place it anywhere.
