Primera Persona 2019

8th edition of Primera Persona, the CCCB festival of varieties

We’ll have chats, monologues and readings from Nik Cohn, Peter Hook, Julieta Venegas and Sally Rooney, among others.

The Primera Persona festival was held at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona in 2012, aiming to become a festival of varieties, as creators Miqui Otero and Kiko Amat explain. Now in its eighth year, held this May, the dynamic of sharing stories about life in the most entertaining way possible continues, with crafted staging and scripts created expressly for the festival. The CCCB stage will fill with creators from a wide variety of art disciplines who base their work on their real-life experiences. This year, the festival will feature readings, monologues and conversations with a balanced representation of generations and genders.

They will be given by well-known names in four fascinating sessions on 10 and 11 May starting at 7 pm, in the theatre at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. The first session will feature a talk about anti-fascism with Mark Bray, Jordi Borràs, and Helena Castellà Duran and Carles Viñas. It will be followed by conversations between Nik Cohn and DJ Kosmos, and Peter Hook and Agnès Marquès. The second session will feature a chat between Sally Rooney and Míriam Cano, and a performance by Julieta Venegas. On 11 May, the third session will kick off with ‘Mad women’ featuring Maria Manonelles, Montse Batalla and Laura Fernández. This will be followed by conversations between Emil Ferris and Ana Galvañ, and Thomas Page McBee and Use Lahoz. The festival will finish off with the fourth session, featuring Brett Anderson, Xavi Sancho, Mala Rodríguez and Silvia Cruz.

Tickets for each session cost €10. Tickets are available on the CCCB website.
