Roots and Jazz with Lucia Fumero

The artist brings the songs from her second album, Folklore, to L’Auditori.

Lucia Fumero is a pianist and singer born in Barcelona to an Argentine father and a Swiss mother. This mix of origins perhaps explains the blend of folk, classical, and jazz sounds that shape her distinctive musical identity. She performs the pieces from her second album, Folklore, at L’Auditori on Friday, 7 November.

You may have seen her at the last Grec Festival of Barcelona, where she performed some of the new songs in a different setting on Montjuïc. The album is a musical exploration of her roots—both personal and artistic—a selection of songs that not only captured her heart but have become part of her own sound universe.

A singular artist, Lucia Fumero dives into traditional music and fearlessly intertwines it with jazz, resulting in an explosion of popular sounds. Her creative freedom allows her to revisit personal and musical influences in original compositions that reflect the geographies most connected to her life—Catalonia, Argentina, and Switzerland. An exceptional pianist, Fumero also masters her voice and the guitar.

The concert, with its careful staging, features Martín Leiton (double bass and leona), Juan R. Berbín (drums and percussion), and Marcel·lí Bayer (saxophone and clarinet).

One of the brightest talents of Barcelona’s current music scene, Lucia Fumero is the daughter of renowned jazz bassist Horacio Fumero. She performs at L’Auditori as part of the Sit Back series, which brings together projects from the worlds of jazz and contemporary music, including upcoming concerts by Júlia Colom (11 December), Standstill, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Vivalaguerra (14 January), Anna Ferrer (17 January), and Ferran Palau, presenting his new album on 30 January.

If you want to experience Folklore live, come to L’Auditori, but check all concert details on the website first.
