Nosferatu

Count Orlock is celebrating his 100th birthday at the Ateneu Fort Pienc

A screening of Nosferatu, a key film of German expressionism, with live music.

In 1922, Nosferatu, a silent film directed by F. W. Murnau and starring Max SchreckAlexander GranachGustav von Wangenheim and Greta Schröeder, was released. The plot is a more or less loose adaptation of Abraham Stoker's Dracula, but due to copyright issues, the main character is a so-called Count Orlock, a mysterious individual who lives in a castle in the Carpathian Mountains. The film is considered an essential work of German expressionism and is also a cult film worldwide. At the Ateneu Fort Pienc Civic Centre, they want to celebrate the centenary of the film's premiere with full honours. They will not only be screening it - on Thursday, 3 November at 7 p.m. - but the soundtrack will also be played live by the musicians Sergi Sirvent (piano and keyboards) and Martí Serra (tenor, soprano and baritone saxophone).

It will undoubtedly be a great occasion to rediscover - or see for the first time - this classic that always appears at the top of lists of the best horror films of all time. The action is set in the mid-19th century. A real estate agent sends young Hutter to Transylvania to close a deal. He arrives at the castle where he will be staying and is greeted by the sinister Count Orlock. The next morning, the guest wakes up with two marks on his neck, which he interprets as mosquito bites, but soon discovers that the Count is a vampire.

Admission to Fort Pienc is free, but you will need to book in advance as seating is limited. More information at this link.
