Online fall edition of Jazz I Am

Organised by the Taller de Músics, the event aims to promote alliances between music professionals through conferences, workshops and shows.

After being cancelled last March due to the first wave of the pandemic, the organizers - Taller de Músics - did not want to wait a whole year to run the second edition of the international meeting Jazz I Am. It will take place this December, but it will have to be online. Among other institutions, the event has the support of Barcelona City Council and the collaboration of Fabra i Coats, Fàbrica de Creació de Barcelona, and one of its main objectives is to be a meeting point for professionals of jazz. These meetings and alliances are enhanced through a program of conferences, presentations, workshops and showcases.

The sessions will kick off on Wednesday, December 9 at 11 am with a welcoming by Jazz I Am director, Rosa Galbany. The round table about the statement How can a musician take advantage of an international fair? will be one of the highlights of the morning, while in the afternoon, among many other proposals, Javier Estrella will present the initiative Plataforma Jazz España. The first day will close with the award ceremony of the Associació de Músics de Jazz i Música Moderna de Catalunya (Catalonia’s Jazz and Modern Music Musician’s Association). Thursday’s schedule includes the discussion How does a jazz club survive? New music programming strategies, with the participation of managers from various music clubs across Europe. Jazz I Am 2020 will close on Friday, December 11 with a program that includes the presentation of social projects on the promotion of creativity through music.
