The Fundació Suñol brings back the video of ‘Situació Color’ by Miralda y Jaume Xifra for Josep Suñol

‘Situació Color’, a ritual for Suñol’s Les Escales

Miralda and Jaume Xifra were in charge of the opening party for Les Escales, Josep Suñol's new home

In 1976, the artist Josep Suñol moved to his new residence, called Les Escales. The house was designed exclusively to host his art collection and wanted to make a proper opening for the occasion. It was held on June 10 of that year and Suñol asked Miralda and Jaume Xifra to create a ritual-party that they called ‘Situació Color’. Apart from them, other friends participated with various collaborations, such as Antoni Muntadas and Jaume Sisa. The Fundació Suñol puts at your disposal the remastered filming of the event that Roberto Mardones recorded in Super 8 at the time.

‘Situació Color’ was a tour of the three floors of Les Escales, each dressed in one of the three secondary colors, which the guests had to perceive as a kind of initiatory journey. Food, drink, scenery, and even characters like the ironer or waitresses were part of the party, which aimed to attract guests through all five senses.

The video of the Miralda and Jaume Xifra ritual is available on the Fundació Suñol website and also on their YouTube channel, where you can find more material from other exhibitions.
