'Something's Coming' pays tribute to Sondheim

Singer Joan Vázquez to perform the biggest hits by a legend of musical theatre

Fans of musicals are already familiar with his face and, especially, with his voice: Joan Vázquez has already starred in musicals like Flor de Nit, Hair, Rent and Mamma Mia. Now he’s inviting us to review the best known songs by one of the legends of musical theatre, composer Stephen Sondheim, the man behind musicals like Company, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Follies, Sunday in the Park with George, Merrily We Roll Along, Passion and Into the Woods.

The musical is to include songs like Losing My Mind, Good Thing Going, Send in the Clowns and Being Alive, with which Vázquez will bring to life all of the magic of Sondheim, universally acclaimed as the most important composer and songwriter in the history of the genre.

Apart from showcasing his songwriting talent, the show will also provide an insight into Sondheim as a character thanks to anecdotes and quotations, illustrating his vision of art and theatre, music, his profession and, indeed, of life itself.

Something’s Coming: a Tribute to Sondheim is playing at Teatre Gaudí until the 25th of February.
