Joel Minguet in 'Lorca'

Lorca at Sala Versus Glòries

Actor Joel Minguet in a production that lies midway between a recital and a play.

An atmospheric and intimate literary journey with guitar arrangements and aromas of orange blossoms is the essence of Lorca, which can be seen over the Christmas period at Sala Versus Glòries. On stage, Joel Minguet and his guitar take us on a journey back in time through the early literary years of Federico García Lorca. He speaks and sings of Lorca’s friendship with Salvador Dalí, his trips to Cadaqués and anecdotes of his experiences with Buñuel, Falla and Unamuno. And the moon, what the Spanish call a Lorcian moon, is a recurring motif.

Minguet himself has dramatized and streamlined this simple uncluttered production that searches for the essence of the Granada-born poet and playwright in which Minguet recites and sings nine poems, along with fragments of letters written by Lorca and Dalí. Voice and music weave a thread that extends from the sea to the stars, and leads us through landscapes of desire, beauty, sadness and love. Production is by Javier Garrido and Lorquito Teatre and wardrobe by Carme Trias.
