More Verdi at the Liceu

A new version of ‘La traviata’ returns to the Liceu under the stage direction of David McVicar.

On December 5, one of the classics of the opera returns to the Gran Teatre del Liceu: La traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi. On this occasion, David McVicar is in charge of the stage direction of this melodrama with a more contemporary rereading and a period setting that delves into the intimacy of the characters and the sacrifices made for love. The opera will perform until December 30 on different days and times that you can consult on the website, where you will also find the 'kiosk', a site where you can read articles about the production of McVicar and enjoy other materials, such as the hand program or a playlist of the play.

La traviata tells the story of Violetta who, on her deathbed, remembers her life as a courtesan. Through various flashbacks, the opera exalts human life and virtues, such as generosity, compassion and sacrifice, and how society has become their main enemy. In this production, Violetta is played by Kristina Mkhitaryan, who is replaced by Lisette Oropesa or Pretty Yende on some occasions.

The price of tickets, which you can buy on this link, varies depending on the section where the seat is, and can range from 18 to 290 euros. You will find more availability to choose a seat in the last days.
