‘Trece’, on January 13

Madrid-based band Sidecars presents their seventh album at the Festival del Mil·lenni, with singles including Caballos salvajes and 180 degrees.

On January 13, Sidecars will present their new album, Trece, during the Festival del Mil·lenni at Razzmatazz. Though the Madrid-based band's seventh studio album was released last September, their promotional tour, which began on November 28 in Malaga, is only just at its halfway point.

As a warm-up, the group headed by Juancho (guitar and vocals), Gerbass (bass) and Ruly (drums) presented their followers with four singles — Caballos salvajes, Modo avión, El pasaje del terror and 180 grados — and a rarity: Si me ves aparecer, which is part of the soundtrack of the family comedy Reyes contra Santa, by Paco Caballero.

Trece is therefore not the return of Sidecars, as they never really left but rather had the bar open all this time: a comforting place "where you meet your people, people you know but who never cease to surprise you and whom you need to listen to keep understanding things.”

Founded in 2006, the band won the award for best new group in 2008 and the Music Award for best alternative rock album in 2009. They are from the Alameda de Osuna neighbourhood — just like Le Punk, Buenas Noches Rose or Pereza — and among their influences are Tequila, Burning, Los Ronaldos, Los Rodríguez or Fito Cabrales. In fact, Leiva — who produced their first two albums, Sidecars (2008) and Cremalleras (2010) — is the band leader's brother.

Their third album, Fuego Cruzado (2014), gave way to the farewell to Manu, the guitarist of the original line-up, and to the recording of a live compilation album, Contra las cuerdas (2016), which included top guests such as Dani Martín, Iván Ferreiro, César Pop, Leiva, and M Clan's Carlos Tarque and Ricardo Ruipérez.

In 2018, their album Cuestión de gravedad made it to place number three third place on the sales list and in 2021, they claimed the top spot on the podium with the LP Ruido de fondo and the song Mundo imperfecto. Will Sidecars be able to repeat their feat? Find out in person on January 13 by buying your ticket here.
