Marc Timón presents ‘John Williams, forever’

A tribute to John Williams, by Marc Timón

Palau de la Música presents 'John Williams, forever,' a concert with Marc Timón, Gloria Cheng and the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès.

If you are a fan of John Williams (1932), this Monday, 21 June is your day. Palau de la Música Catalana presents John Williams, forever, a concert by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, conducted by the Catalan musician and composer Marc Timón. In the recital, Timón pays tribute to one of the most prominent directors, musicians and composers of the last decades, known, above all, for the soundtracks of films that have transcended the history of cinema: Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Superman (1978), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Home Alone (1990) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Williams has also been in charge of composing the official music for four editions of the Olympic Games held in his native continent, North America. You can now enjoy some of the most famous pieces the composer has created for movies such as Harry Potter, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial or Star Wars.

The program also includes pieces by Timón himself. They will play the main themes of Witches, Coliseum and The Little Wizzard. The world premiere of The Beacon. Tribute to John Williams, a symphonic work dedicated to Williams, is part of the schedule, too. Timón will also be conducting the world premiere of the Prelude and the European premiere of the Scherzo, two pieces for piano and orchestra by the American composer. To perform these two pieces, Timón will be accompanied by pianist Gloria Cheng.

Ticket prices range from 20 to 40 euros, depending on the seating area. You can buy your tickets at this link.
