A trip to Paris, in a relaxed atmosphere
Els Pirates Teatre and the Municipal Band offer at L'Auditori a concert from the cycle La Banda ens apropa that is a musical stroll through the French capital
Offenbach, Satie, Fauré… All these composers and some others, French or not, will be heard in the concert offered by the Barcelona Municipal Band, conducted by Ximo Tarín and titled La vie parisienne, precisely because it brings together a set of musical scenes of the French capital composed in different periods. On Thursday, December 4, at L'Auditori.
The concert is part of the cycle La Banda ens apropa (in the image, a previous concert from the cycle), which is specifically aimed at groups who might attend few concerts or shows because they require a silence and concentration that do not align with their needs. And here we are talking about people with autism or Alzheimer’s as well as families with boys and girls. In these shows, the lighting is adjusted so that everyone feels comfortable, and the rules concerning silence and movement typical of concert and performance halls are relaxed and adapted to the needs of the spectators.
For this concert, the Barcelona Municipal Band has invited Els Pirates Teatre, a well-known theatre company that will accompany the spectators on a sound journey that includes pieces from as early as 1858, such as the Orpheus in the Underworld Overture by Jacques Offenbach, which transports us to nineteenth-century Paris, to works from 2005 such as Paris Montmartre by Toshio Mashima or from the year 2021, such as La Suite Montmartre by Johan de Meij, composed under the inspiration of Erik Satie, which perfectly evokes the popular Parisian district.
La Pavane, a dream world imagined by composer Gabriel Fauré, and the Paris Sketches by Martin Ellerby complete a program for all kinds of spectators, even if they cannot help making some noise or cannot remain completely still.
