Vacuum poster

In search of a new aspect of sensory perception

The company Philippe Saire will visit the Mercat de les Flors to present the piece Vacuum, with Philippe Chosson and Pep Garrigues on stage.

It is 25 minutes during which impossible images are generated, a play of bodies that appear and disappear between black holes and dazzling lights.. It is Vacuum, a production by the Philippe Saire Company, a company headed by one of the leading figures in contemporary Swiss dance. Saire is responsible for the concept and choreography of the show, although the two performers on the tour, Philippe Chosson and Pep Garrigues, have also collaborated on the choreography.

Vacuum can be seen on 21 and 22 January at the Mercat de les Flors, and it won't be the only show by the company that will be coming to this space in the course of 2023, as Hocus Pocus, for children aged 7 to 11, will be programmed on the same weekend, and the following weekend, the newly created production Party Room. Returning to Vacuum, this is the third part of a series of performances entitled Dispositifs ('scenic devices'), with a strong presence of the visual arts. The other two pieces were Black Out (2011) and NEONS Never Ever, Oh! Noisy Shadows (2014). The show explores a new aspect of our sensory perception through an optical illusion created with two neon tubes. It is a co-production of Théâtre National de Chaillot (Paris) and La Bâtie-Festival de Genève.

The Philippe Saire Company was created in 1986 and over the years has performed more than 1,400 shows in some 200 cities around the world. Saire has devised some thirty shows, often integrating the visual arts, theatre and cinema.
