The Casa Vicens

Virtual guided tour of the first house designed by Gaudí

With the help of an architect, the various construction stages and artistic details of the Casa Vicens are presented.

“We opted for the guided tour model, not only because it’s the format our audience appreciates the most, but also because we should get away from the classic virtual tours where you move from room to room, and focus on one of our values: proximity. The guide walks around and explains the house in every detail, so that the viewer feels that they are visiting with him". This is how Emili Masferrer, director of the Casa Vicens Gaudí, reports on the new offer to visit the building, which has been a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2005. It is a virtual guided tour in the company of the architect and tourist guide Rubén Momblant. The experience can be purchased on the Casa Vicens website itself, and can be viewed up to three times over a period of one month from the purchase. It is adapted for people with impaired hearing, and offered with subtitles in Catalan, Spanish and English.

The title of the visit is Gaudí's First House. The fact is that, built between 1883 and 1885 and located in the Gràcia district of Barcelona, Casa Vicens was the first house designed by Antoni Gaudí, at only 30 years old, and a manifesto of his way of understanding architecture and where that young man could go. Physical visits can also be made to the building; it opened its doors to the public in 2017 after three years of restoration and rehabilitation that allowed it to return to its original appearance.
