The Stairs of Honor at the UB

The Historic Building of the University of Barcelona, in 360º

Through a virtual tour you can get to know the different spaces of the building, as well as its history and the biography of the architect Elies Rogent.

The location of the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona (UB), very close to Plaça Catalunya, means that many Barcelonians, probably the vast majority of them, are familiar with its majestic appearance. And surely also many of those who spend a few days in the city, whether for tourism or for work. But fewer are the ones who have walked in through the front door and discovered the richness of its interior spaces. Throughout the year, small groups can visit it to get to know the building designed by the architect Elies Rogent, one of the predecessors of modernism and master of Antoni Gaudí. These weeks of confinement, of course, tours are halted, but you have the opportunity to discover the corners of the building and take a 360º tour by visiting its website.

As well as taking a closer look at the façade and taking a walk around the ground floor and the first floor of the UB, you will also find extensive information about Rogent and his architecture, as well as the history of the UB and the 19th century in Barcelona  - the first stone of the University was laid on October 22, 1873. Particular attention is paid to the virtual visit to the Ferran Soldevila Garden, which was named in honor of an illustrious professor of the UB; a sum of green areas that students and teachers enjoy and that we too can admire without leaving home.
