‘When Crabs Have Claws’ the new performative action by Escarlata Circus
A show at the Mercat de les Flors which mixes dance, circus and poetry, directed by Laura Tajada Negredo.
Escarlata Circus presents what may well be their most personal work, showing the life of a couple together for 30 years based on lived experience, both artistic and personal. Through everyday life, When Crabs Have Claws is a tug-of-war between the imagination and reality of a couple who play, domesticate, accept and, most importantly, love each other. Àngel and Bàrbara, the main characters in this performance, tell us a story based on real events about a couple who began to perform in the circus thirty years ago, thinking they would be able to find freedom and change the world. Through the language they know the best, circus, they reflect on these changes with a reinterpretation of the relationship with the object, whips, knives, hair, acrobatics and clowns. Through the poetry of Bàrbara and Àngel’s movements, we discover how this couple who allows us to enter their private lives (we even see pieces from their private audiovisual archive) question themselves and everything established. In short, it is a visit to their past and a proposal for an open, hopeful future.
You can enjoy When Crabs Have Claws, directed by Laura Tajada Negredo and featuring Bet Miralta and Jordi Aspa, from 31 May to 2 June at 8 pm in the MAC hall of the Mercat de les Flors.
Tickets to the show cost €16. You can get yours on the theatre website.
