Our Infinite Library
As part of The Infinite Library exhibition, a series of five activities have been developed by Anna Pahissa, which will take place at Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona and Art Factory and the Ignasi Iglésias-Can Fabra Library.
The Infinite Library is a project by artists Haris Epaminonda and Daniel Gustav Cramer, and is an expanding book archive created from pages taken from different books that have been found, which have been rebound to create new ones. In this manner, these two artists use the support and the space of the book to develop their project, both the materials the project is based on – pages of books – and those that are created: new books, which at the same time are expanded to create an installation. The result is a collection of collections, which can, simultaneously, be inserted into another collection: the library.
This programme of five activities will focus on this concept of collections of collections and look at books and the library as devices and spaces for creation, as well as at the potential of library users, the readers, to become creators.

El llibre d’artista (The Artist’s Book)

Theory-practical session that will focus on the relationship between artistic practice and books, and more specifically on the concept of artist’s book.
Guided tour of The Infinite Library exhibition
12 September from 12.00 to 13.30
Where: Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona and Art Factory
Guided tour that will conclude with a discussion among members of the group to exchange impressions about the exhibition.
Workshop on visual stories and books of books
19 September from 12.00 to 13.30
Where: Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona and Art Factory
Practical workshop in which each participant can build their own book from pages taken from other books and publications.
Reading Club
26 September from 12.00 to 13.30
Where: Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona and Art Factory
Session in the form of reading club during which participants can share their reading experience regarding the books that were selected and given on the first day of the programme of activities.
Magnificent Libraries
3 October from 12.00 to 14.00
Where: Ignasi Iglésias-Can Fabra Library
Theory-practical session during which the space and contents of the library as a map and creative device for building stories will be discussed.
Collaboration project between the Library Service of the Culture Department of the Government of Catalonia, Libraries of Barcelona and Fabra i Coats: Contemporary Art Centre of Barcelona and Art Factory (ICUB- Culture Institute of Barcelona).
