The thinkers visit the museum

The philosophical audioguide “The thinkers visit the museum” aims to complement the guided tours of the museums with a philosophical point of view that allows users to reflect on the discursive implications of the art and think with their senses.

During this year’s marathon, MartíPeran, Andrea Soto Calderón and Edgar Straehle will accompany us to three city museums.

Wednesday 15, at 12 – Martí Peran at the Fabrai Coats Contemporary Art Centre. Audioguide for the Raw Material exhibition
MartíPeran, professor of art theory at the University of Barcelona, will explore the philosophical issues posed by the work of various artists based in Barcelona, including OriolVilanova, Luis Guerra and Xavier Arenós.

Thursday 16, at 11 – Edgar Straehle at MUHBA.Audioguide for the exhibitionImages to believe. Catholics and Protestants in Europe and Barcelona in the XVI-XVIII centuries.
Edgar Straehle, PhD from the University of Barcelona and Senior History Advisor at the Museum of the History of Barcelona (MUHBA), will discuss the representation of the infidel and the processes of the Inquisition at the exhibition Images to believe.

Thursday 16, at 12 – Andrea Soto Calderón at La Virreina.Audioguide for the exhibition Barcelona as seen from the Besòs.
Andrea Soto Calderón, researcher in contemporary aesthetics at La Virreina and Paris 8, will reflect on the photographic representation of the subordinate classes and the contemporary transformation of Barcelona through the photography of Patrick Faigenbaum.
