On 19 July 1936 Pau Casals was to have conducted his own orchestra and the Orfeó Gracienc in a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the Teatre Grec. On the eve of the previous day, he was rehearsing when the news arrived of the military coup against the Republic. Now, seventy years after the Spanish Civil War began, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, Orfeó Gracienc and the Coral Carmina will finally make the dream of this concert, long forgotten, come true.
