What do the practices of body and transmutation have to do with the heritage collection at the Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures? You can find out in this stage production from a series that puts artists into contact with the city's museum spaces.

We approach the phenomenon of transmutation and matters such as the construction of gender from the perspective of an anthropologist. This is the project of Xavier Manubens, a resident artist at El Graner, who relates questions of gender and body practices to the heritage collection at the Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures. He does so with the collaboration of the drag queens, activists and performers Mama Lynch and Norma Mor, the choreographer and intellectual Luciana Cheregati, the actress and artist Júlia Barbany and the dancer and teacher of body practices Laura Ramírez. They star in an intervention on the museum's collection, in a historical and social way, based on the study of cultural objects, as well as a site-specific performance on the social constructs of identity frameworks and the politics of the body, always with the aim of revisiting the legacy of societies of other times, from a contemporary perspective.

ARTIFICIALIA EXOTICA! MIRABILIA! Power and counter-culture in the creation of identity frameworks is on at the Barcelona Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures, as part of Creation and Museums, a series of performance productions in which various disciplines come into contact with Barcelona's museums and cultural institutions, interacting with their installations and collections, in a series of theatre, dance and music productions.

An El Graner - Creation Centre and Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures co-production.
