La Calòrica

Brutal and explosive like the onomatopoeia that provides the title. This show, awarded the 2014 Quim Masó Prize, takes inspiration from the world of the graphic novel to tell us about a life that is not as we had dreamed.

To choose is to lose, which is to say, you can’t have it all. That is what the characters in this show learn. Bluf is produced by La Calòrica, a young company that received support from the Grec in 2012, when the festival presented L'editto bulgaro, and once more in 2013, with the premiere of La nau dels bojos. This time, Joan Yago and Israel Solà present, at the Mercat de les Flors, the interwoven stories of a man who always ends up in trouble, his fiancée, who is not sure what she wants in life, a girl who has just lost her job, a songwriter in tights, two lesbian bank robbers and a that runs a large multinational corporation. They are still in time to try again, to recover the dreams that vanished as they grew older. And they will tell us their stories in various tones: from intimate realism to black comedy, but all inspired by masters in the world of the graphic novel, from Daniel Clowes to Chris Ware. As a result, the stage becomes a comic book cartoon, full of the humour, violence, dissatisfaction and anger of the contemporary world.
