Istanbul 1710. Dimitrie Cantemir

Jordi Savall and the Hespèrion XXI ensemble have delved into the world of Dimitrius Cantemir (1673- 1723), a brilliant composer who spent much of his
short life in Istanbul and wrote The Book of the Science of Music. This work provides the inspiration behind Istanbul, in which Savall and Hespèrion XXI perform works from the 17th-century Ottoman court, as well as other pieces from the Armenian and Sephardic musical traditions.
