Baró d'Evel

Poetry, movement and contemporary circus are all part of the unusual and personal universe of some of the artists who bring to the stage the first part of the diptych, Là, sur la falaise, in which they have the collaboration ... of a raven.

It already happened in Beasts, seen last a few months ago at the Mercat de les Flors and that, with a horse and some birds on set, it was the company's last creation before this new two-piece set. Now, the French-Catalan company, made up of Camille Decourtye and Blaï Mateu Trias (son of the well-known clown Tortell Poltrona) take the first delivery of the diptych Là, to the Barcelona stage. sur la falaise, if predictions are correct, can be seen in 2019. Both pieces, conceived as communicating vessels, begin from the same impulse of exploring opposites (between black and white, between balance and imbalance) as well as the many different sides to working with animals. Là, a montage of two humans, a microphone, a crow called Gus and two colours: the same black and white as the bird’s feathers. Here, Decourtye and Mateu explore the concepts of balance and imbalance, while trying to find the limits of the human voice, rhythm and light. Above them, free on stage, the crow represents the world of beliefs and superstitions, but also freedom and agility. All this takes place on an immaculately bright stage that, gradually, turn in an exploration of duality, one of the signs of identity in this piece.

Perhaps, as the creators themselves point out, works as a prologue to the future La falaise, the second piece that we will see next year and which has eight performers, the same two colours (white and black) that link to and some animal collaborators, including a horse and some birds.

As usual, Baró d'evel collaborates here once again with Maria Muñoz and Pep Ramis, members of the dance company Mal Pelo, but also with the author and playwright Barbara Métais-Chastanier.
