Víctor Borràs

A residents’ meeting has been convened in the stairwell. The woman in flat 2, third floor doesn’t usually go, but today she has to; she has something important to tell her neighbours. She has to ask for a favour, an awkward favour that's difficult for people to grant.

The woman in flat 2 on the third floor is about fifty years old, works in a supermarket as a butcher and today she asked for permission to leave early to be on time for one of these neighbourhood meetings which, as usual, was called far too early. She is just another neighbour, and, as is often the case on a communal staircase, many don’t even know her name. Raquel lives with a son who has been diagnosed with a mental illness and today she explains herself to her neighbours and asks them for one of those favours that are difficult to ask, and to grant. Be prepared to listen to the questions, perhaps unanswered, the woman in flat 2 on the third floor will ask you, and to discover her monologue that will captivate you and try to make you think. Perhaps when you leave the performance you will think of those neighbours who are now just a face, a shadow; who knows if it is because you have not dared to look at them properly or listen to them at all?

La dona del tercer segona is a new production from Teatre Nu, a company based in Sant Martí de Tous (Anoia) that thinks of theatre as community art. Spanning 20 years, the company has produced nineteen shows, including productions for adult and family audiences. The text is by Víctor Borràs, an actor and playwright who trained at the Institut del Teatre and whose artistic career has always been linked to Teatre Nu, and it is directed by Ivan Benet, an actor and director who had already directed and co-written one of the company’s latest shows with Borràs, La lleugeresa i altres cançons. As the only performer, Àurea Márquez is a theatre (Pedra de tartera, Santa Joana dels escorxadors, Mort de dama, Hedda Gabler, Vida privada), film (El perquè de tot plegat, A la ciutat) and television actress (Poblenou, Ventdelplà, La Riera, Com si fos ahir). Márquez won the Margarida Xirgu Memorial Award in 2011 and this year she is also taking part in another stage production at Sala Àtrium for the Grec 2021 Festival: M'hauríeu de pagar.

A production by Teatre Nu.
