La Re-sentida / Marco Layera

A young Chilean company breaks taboos and demystifies the recent history of their country in a transgressive work of political fiction policy that meditates on the present as it speaks to us of the past.

Isn’t that President Salvador Allende’s desk, there in the middle of the stage? And isn’t that the front of La Moneda Palace, projected there in the background? Yes, but this is not a historical account of the last moments of the socialist president overthrown by Pinochet; rather, it is a politically incorrect fiction based on the past and aimed at stimulating meditation on the present... and maybe the future. In this piece, a group of modern ministers arrived from the present try to advise Allende in order to save his government and save the country seventeen years of bloody dictatorship. Yes, insolence and transgression are the highways on which this show travels, using humour, cruelty and sarcasm as weapons to speak, from the stage, about a country that has just made the transition to democracy . Environmentalists, students, sexual minorities, Mapuches... All these groups have taken to the streets once more to demand political changes after years in which social debate muted due to agreements and transactions between the political forces. What is Chile now, and what do we want it to be? The answer to this question is suggested a company founded in 2008 and that has made provocation a duty.
