The 35th Grec Festival of Barcelona will open with Cesc Gelabert’s reflection on the presence of the dancer and his relation to the troupe as a whole. This exploration of the bonds between the individual and the collective, featuring reference to Catalan traditional culture, has brought together some of the leading figures on the art scene in Catalonia: from the Gelabert Azzopardi dance company to the artist Perejaume and the composers Borja Ramos and Carles Santos. The performance features twelve dancers and music played live by Barcelona Municipal Band, conducted by Salvador Brotons, as well as appearances by a dozen members of Sardana dance groups.
Once more, then, Cesc Gelabert, one of the most influential dancers on the Catalan scene, awarded such accolades as, amongst others, the Spanish National Dance Prize, the Government of Catalonia National Dance Prize, the City of Barcelona and the Max Prize for the Performing Arts, returns to the Grec, where last year he presented, with Frederic Amat, the production Ki.
This time, Gelabert once more works with the prolific artist Perejaume, whose awards include the Spanish Fine Art Prize and the Government of Catalonia National Prize for the Visual Arts.
