À la ville de... Barcelona

An albino gorila, La Monyos, Mayor Pich i Pon... Barcelona relives its history in a poetic satire that brings some of the city's most celebrated character onto the stage.

Joan Maragall’s “great enchantress”; the “Rose of Fire”, rocked by bombs in the early-twentieth century... Barcelona is all this and more.  However, to portray the city, what better than to listen to the voices of some that have lived here. They all come to a dingy café where, out of the corner of their eyes, the sleepy regulars watch the different acts that take to the tiny stage. Isn’t that La Monyos singing of her broken heart? And isn’t that Los Clippers performing “Qué bonita es Barcelona” to a foxtrot rhythm? These are just some of the many characters who visit the bar, ranging from Mayor Joan Pich i Pon — famous for his terrible slips of the tongue — to an albino gorilla and a gentleman in a raincoat, jumping for joy. All these ghosts from the past and the future join together to paint a collective portrait of the city and its people.
